If you press the shutter button halfwaywhen one of the icons in the table below is displayed, one of the followingicons will be displayed to inform you that the camera will shoot continuousimages: [ ], [ ], or [W].Smiling (including Babies): Consecutive images are captured, and the cameraanalyzes details such as facial expressions to savethe image determined to be the best.Sleeping (including Babies): Beautiful shots of sleeping faces, created bycombining consecutive shots to reduce camerashake and image noise.The AF-assist beam will not light up, the flash willnot fire, and the shutter sound will not be played.ChildrenW: So you don’t miss a photo opportunity of childrenwho move around, the camera will capture threeconsecutive images for each shot.• In some scenes, expected images may not be saved, and imagesmay not look as expected.• Focus, image brightness, and color are determined by the first shot.• When you want to shoot single images only, press the <m> button, choose[ ] in the menu, and then select [ ].Still Images MoviesImage Stabilization IconsOptimal image stabilization for the shooting conditions is automaticallyapplied (Intelligent IS). Additionally, the following icons are displayed in [ ]and [ ] modes.Image stabilization for stillimages (Normal)Image stabilization for movies,reducing strong camera shake,as when shooting while walking(Dynamic)Image stabilization for stillimages when panning(Panning)*Image stabilization for slowcamera shake, such as whenshooting movies at telephoto(Powered)Image stabilization for macroshots (Hybrid IS)During movie recording,[ ] is displayed, and imagestabilization for macro movierecording is used.No image stabilization, becausethe camera is mounted ona tripod or held still by othermeans.However, during movierecording, [ ] is displayed,and image stabilization tocounteract wind or other sourcesof vibration is used (Tripod IS).* Displayed when you pan, following moving subjects with the camera. When you followsubjects moving horizontally, image stabilization only counteracts vertical camerashake, and horizontal stabilization stops. Similarly, when you follow subjects movingvertically, image stabilization only counteracts horizontal camera shake.• To cancel image stabilization, set [IS Mode] to [Off] (=82).
