Troubleshooting 49✘ The PC does not recognize the scannerThe following are possible causes of the PC failing to recognize the scanner.Check each possible cause.Cause The scanner is not connected correctly.Action Check all of the SCSI cable connections between the scanner, theSCSI host adapter in the PC, and any other SCSI devicesconnected to the system.Cause The SCSI host adapter is not installed in the PC correctly.Action Refer to the instruction manual for the SCSI host adapter andinstall the SCSI host adapter in the PC correctly.Also check the following, depending on which operating systemyou are using:Windows 95/98/MeClick Start - Settings - Control Panel - System - Device Manager,and make sure that no “x” or “!” symbol appears next to the SCSIController entry. If either of these symbols is displayed, refer tothe instruction manual for the SCSI host adapter and redo thesettings for the SCSI host adapter.Windows NT 4.0 WorkstationClick Start - Settings - Control Panel - SCSI Adapter, and makesure that the system recognizes the SCSI host adapter properly. Ifthe system is not recognizing the SCSI host adapter properly,refer to the instruction manual for the SCSI host adapter and redothe settings for the SCSI host adapter.Windows 2000 ProfessionalClick Start - Settings - Control Panel - System - Hardware -Device Manager, and make sure that no “x” or “!” symbolappears next to the SCSI Controller entry.
