11Fig. 3.7Residual heat indicatorThe hob also features 5 warning lampswhich are wired to the correspondingplate.When the temperature of a cooking plateis over 60°C, the relevant warning lampis also lit-up to warn of heat on the sur-face of the hob.This lamp also stay on after the cookingplate has been switched off to shownthat the hob surface is still hot.This residual heat lasts for a rather longtime after the cooking plate has beenswitched off.During this period of time youshould avoid touching the hobsurface over the cooking area.Please pay special attention toensuring children are not allowednear the hob.The lamp will switch off automatically assoon as the surface temperature of thecooking plate falls below 60°C.Cooking hints:– To reduce the cooking time, you canturn the control knob to the max whenyou switch the plate on.After a short time you will set thecontrol knob to the required positionfor the cooking.– You should use pots and pans withflat bases (pans with the test mark forglass-ceramic hobs are available fromspecialist shops).The diameter of the pan should matchthat of the cooking plate (or be slightlybigger) to make the most of theenergy.– Since the cooking surface stays hotfor a certain time after the plate hasbeen switched off, you can switch itoff 5 or 10 minutes before the end ofthe cooking.The residual heat of the hob willcomplete the cooking.– To save electricity, use pan lidswhenever possible.– Never cook the food directly on theglass ceramic cooktop, but in specialpans or containers.Caution!the cooking hob becomes veryhot during operation.Keep children well out of reach.
