Inspect instrument for damage.a. Inspect instrument for visible external damage, such asa cracked or broken door, case, handle, or latch, or adamaged IUI connector.b. All damages must be repaired prior to placing theinstrument back in use.2. Clean instrument.Do not allow a cleaning solution other than 70% IPA tocontact the IUI connectors. See step 3 for IUI connectorcleaning instructions.a. Keep instrument upright and do not allow any part ofinstrument to become saturated with or submersed influid during cleaning operation.MaintenanceCleaningAlaris™ SystemCleaning ProductsCleaner Dilution10% bleach 1 part bleach to 9 parts water70% isopropylalcohol (IPA)not applicablemild detergent per manufacturer’s recommendation, asneededwarm water not applicableProcedure• To prevent an electrical hazard:◦ Turn the instrument off andunplug the power cord from ACpower before cleaning.◦ Do not spray fluids directlyonto the instrument or into theIUI connectors.◦ Do not steam autoclave,EtO sterilize, immerse theinstrument in fluids, or allowfluids to enter the instrumentcase.◦ Do not connect a moduleuntil the IUI connectors arethoroughly dry.• Do not use compressed airto dry the instrument; this couldforce fluid into the instrument.WARNINGS• The use of unapprovedcleaners and failure to followthe Alaris product cleaningprocedures and the cleaningsolution manufacturer’srecommended dilutions can resultin an instrument malfunction orproduct damage, such asweakening and cracking of thecase, and could void the warranty.• Do not allow the cleaning solutionto contact the IUI connectorwhen cleaning the instrument.• Do not use hard, abrasive orpointed objects to clean anypart of the instrument.CAUTIONS
