Carmanah recommends routineinspections of the solar panel to ensure that they areunobstructed by anything that may prevent effectivesolar charging, including:• dirt and dust• snow• leaves• debris• shade that may have developed after installationdue to adjacent plant growth.The frequency of the inspections depends on locationand local weather patterns. A yearly visual inspectionof the SC315 is typically sufficient. The SC315 isdesigned to be maintenance free, however maximumsystem performance will be achieved when the LEDlenses and solar panels are clean.Fuse ReplacementA wiring fault during installation or maintenancecan sometimes cause the battery fuses to blow. Toreplace the fuse:1. Make sure you’re not wearing any metal jewelry,or holding any tools or other conductive objects.2. Disconnect the batteries.3. Check all wiring for any faults that may havecaused the fuse to blow.4. Open the fuse holder apart and check the fuse.5. Replace a blown fuse with an identical fuse - 7A,Littlefuse 031201.5.HXP, Carmanah part # 71800.Battery ReplacementWhen the SC315 system’s battery requiresreplacement, it is recommended that the originalSC315 Battery be used (Carmanah part # 70774). Ifthere is more than one controller at the installationsite, it is recommended to replace all the batteries atthe same time.WARNINGBattery replacement procedureshould not be carried out in windyconditions. In all cases, the area atthe base of the pole must be ropedoff to prevent people from beinginjured or killed by falling pieces.EMS RecyclingProduction of the EMS required the extraction anduse of natural resources. The EMS may containsubstances that could be harmful to the environmentor human health if improperly handled at theproduct’s end of life. In order to avoid release ofsuch substances into the environment and to reducethe use of natural resources, we encourage youto recycle the EMS in an appropriate way that willensure most of the materials are reused or recycledappropriately.
