SERVICEBefore performing smTice or ruaintenance operations onunit, turn off main power switch to unit. Electrical shockcould cause personal injury.Puron,_R)(R-410A) reliigerant systems operate at higherpressures than standard R-22 systerus. Do not use R-22service equipruent or coruponents on Puron refi-igerantequipruent. If service equipment is not rated for Puronreti-igerant, equipment dmnage or personal injury mayresult.1. hnproper installation, adjustruent, alteration, service,or ruaintenance can cause property daruage, personalinjury, oi loss of li*_.Refer to the User's Int_nnationManual provided with this unit for more details.2. Do not store or use gasoline or other flmrunabtevapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any otherappliance. What to do if you smell gas:1. DO NOT try to light any appliance.2. DO NOT touch any electrical switch, or use anyphone in your building.3. IMMEDIATELY call your gas supplier fioru a neigh-bor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's instructions.4. If you cannot reach your gas suppliel; call the firedepartruent. This will make cleaning eftbrts more difficult. Surfi_ce loadedfibers must be completely removed prior to using low velocityclean water rinse.Periodic Clean Water Rinse A periodic clean water rinse isvery beneficial for coils that axe applied in coastal or industrialenvironruents. However, it is very iruportant that the waterrinse is made with very low velocity water streaan to avoiddaruaging the tin edges. Monthly cleaning as desca-ibedbelowis recoruruended.Routine Cleanin_ of Coil Surfaces Monthly cleaning withTotaline,oR)enviropanentally sound coil cleaner is essential toextend the life of coils. This cleaner is available fioru CarrierReplaceruent parts division as part nuruber P902-0301 for aone gallon container, and part nuruber P902-0305 tbr a 5 galloncontainer. It is recolrunended that all coils, including standardaluruinuru, pre-coated, copper/copper or E-coated coils becleaned with the Totatine enviropanentally sound coil cleaneras described belo,a: Coil cleaning should be part of the unit'sregularly scheduled ruaintenance procedures to ensure tong lil_of the coil. Failure to clean the coils may result in reduced du-rability in the enviropanent.Avoid the use of:• coil brighteners• acid cleaning prior to painting• high pressure washers• poor quality water t\_r cleaningTotaline environruentally sound coil cleaner is non-flmruna-ble, hypoatlergenic, nonbacterial, and a USDA accepted biode-gradable agent that will not harm the coil or surrounding com-ponents such as electrical wiring, painted metal surthces, or in-snlation. Use of non-recolrunended coil cleaners is stronglydiscouraged since coil and unit durability could be affected.Tolaline Envitvnmemally So_md Coil (Teaner ApplicationEql lip174el) t• 2t/z gallon garden sprayer• water rinse with low velocity spray nozzleDisconnect gas piping tioru unit when pressure testing atpressure reeater than 0.5 psig. Pressures re'eater than0.5 psig will cause gas valve &nnage resulting in hazardouscondition. If gas valve is snbjected to pressure reeater than0.5 psig, it must be replaced before use. When pressuretesting field-supplied gas piping at pressures of 0.5 psig orless, a unit connected to such piping must be isolated byclosing the ruanual gas valve(s).Cleaning -- Inspect unit interior at beDnning of each heat-ing and cooling season and as operating conditions require. Re-move unit top panel and/or side panels tbr access to unit interior.COIL MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING RECOMMEN-DATION Routine cleaning of coil surfaces is essential toruaintain proper operation of the unit. Elimination of contami-nation and removal of harmful residues will reearly increasethe life of the coil and extend the life of the unit. The followingruaintenance and cleaning procedures are recolrnnended aspart of the routine ruaintenance activities to extend the life ofthe coil.Remove Surface Loaded Fibers Surthce loaded fibers ordirt should be reruoved with a vacuuru cleaner. If a vacuumcleaner is not available, a soft non-ruetallic bristle brash maybe used. hi either case, the tool should be applied in the direc-tion of the tins. Coil surfaces can be easily daruaged (tin edgescan be easily bent over and daruage to the coating of a protect-ed coil) if the tool is applied across the fins.NOTE: Use ofa ,a_aterstrearu, such as a garden hose, against asurface loaded coil wilt drive the fibers and dirt into the coil.Harsh cheruicals, household bleach or acid or basic clean-ers should not be used to clean outdoor or indoor coils ofany kind. These cleaners can be very difficult to rinse outof the coil and can accelerate corrosion at the fin/tube inter-face where dissimilar materials are in contact. If there isdirt below the surface of the coil, use the Totatine,_R_envi-ropanentally sound coil cleaner as described above.! , •High velocity ,a_atertioru a pressure ,a_asher, garden hose,or corupressed air should never be used to clean a coil. Theforce of the water or air jet will bend the tin edges andincrease airside pressure drop. Reduced unit performanceor nuisance unit shutdown may occur.Tomline Environmentally Sound Coil Cleaner ApplicationInslmtctions1. Proper eye protection such as safety glasses is recoru-mended during mixing and application.2. Remove all surface loaded fibers and dirt with a vacuumcleaner as desca-ibedabove.3. Thoroughly wet finned surfaces with clean water and alow velocity garden hose, being careful not to bend fins.4. Mix Totaline enviropanentally sound coil cleaner in a21/2 gallon garden sprayer according to the instructionsincluded with the cleaner. The optimum solution temper-ature is 100 F.85
