55Filter Drier — Whenever moisture-liquid indicator showspresence of moisture, replace filter drier(s). There is one filterdrier assembly on each circuit with two cores. Refer to the Car-rier Standard Service Techniques Manual, Chapter 1, Refriger-ants, for details on servicing filter driers.Liquid Line Service Valve — This valve is located immediatelyahead of filter drier, and has a 1/4-in. access connection for fieldcharging. In combination with compressor discharge servicevalve, each circuit can be pumped down into the high side forservicing with plate fin coils. Microchannel coils (MCHX)have much smaller volume and cannot accommodate the entirecircuit charge.Compressor Assembly — The 30XV units utilizeGreenspeed intelligence for efficient operation. The compres-sor is controlled by a VFD. See Fig. 50 for a view of a typical06Z compressor. For optimal efficiency the compressor uses avariable inlet (VI) valve to change the inlet area of the lobes atdifferent loading points. The valve is opened or closed by asolenoid on the compressor. The control logic looks at calcu-lated parameters to determine the switch point of the valve.VI VALVE TROUBLESHOOTING — Use the quick testtable (Main Menu Quick Test Table Circuit X VI) to en-able the VI valve output. Enable the valve output and verify thecoil solenoid is energized.SUCTION VICTAULIC COUPLING INSTALLATION1. The outside surface of the pipe, between the grooveand the pipe end, must be smooth and free from inden-tations, projections (including weld seams), and rollmarks to ensure a leak-tight seal. All oil, grease, loosepaint, and dirt must be removed. The Victaulic gasketused for refrigerant system piping will have a yellowmark on one side of the gasket lips.2. Apply a thin coat of Victaulic lubricant or silicone lubri-cant to the gasket sealing lips and exterior.3. Position the gasket over the pipe end. Make sure the gas-ket does not overhang the pipe end.4. Align and bring the two pipe ends together. Slide the gas-ket into position and center it between the grooves in eachpipe end. Make sure no portion of the gasket extends intothe groove in either pipe end.5. Install the housings over the gasket. Make sure the hous-ings’ keys engage the grooves completely on both pipeends.6. Install the bolts, and thread a nut finger-tight onto eachbolt. Failure to fol-low this instruction could result in joint leakage.CAUTIONMake sure the gasket does not become rolled or pinchedwhile installing the housings. Failure to follow this instruc-tion could cause damage to the gasket, resulting in jointleakage.
