The 38APS unit shallhave one refrigeration circuit and shall consist oftwo or three rotary scroll compressors. The 38APDunit shall have two independent refrigeration circuitsand shall consist of two, four, five or six rotary scrollcompressors. Unit shall have air-cooled coils, pro-peller-type condenser fans, a control box, and shalldischarge condenser air vertically upward as shownon certified drawings. Unit shall be used in refrigera-tion circuit with a central station air-handling unit ordirect-expansion coils.1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCEA. Unit performance shall be rated in accordance withARI Standard 365, latest edition (U.S.A).B. Unit construction shall comply with latest edition ofASHRAE 15 Safety Code, UL 1995, and ASMEapplicable codes (U.S.A. codes).C. Unit shall be manufactured in a facility registered toISO 9001:2000 Manufacturing Quality Standard.D. Base unit shall be constructed in accordance withUL standards and CSA.E. Unit cabinet shall be capable of withstanding500-hour salt-spray exposure per ASTM B117(scribed specimen).F. Design pressure shall be 650 psig (4482 kPa).G. Unit shall be functional checked at the factory.1.03 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLINGUnit shall be shipped as single package and shallbe stored and handled per unit manufacturer'srecommendations.1.04 WARRANTY (FOR INCLUSION BY SPECIFYINGENGINEER)Part 2 — Products2.01 EQUIPMENTA. General:Factory assembled, single-piece, air-cooled condens-ing unit. Contained within the unit enclosure shall beall factory wiring, piping, controls, compressors,nitrogen holding charge, and special featuresrequired prior to field start-up.B. Unit Cabinet:1. Cabinet shall be galvanized steel casing with abaked enamel powder or pre-painted finish.2. Cabinet shall be capable of withstanding 500-hrsalt spray test in accordance with ASTM(U.S.A.) B-117 standard.3. Control box access panels shall be hinged forservice access.4. Lifting holes shall be provided to facilitaterigging.C. Fans:1. Condenser fans shall be direct-drive propellertype, discharging air vertically upward.2. All condenser fan motors shall be totallyenclosed 3-phase type with permanentlylubricated ball bearings, class F insulationand internal, automatic-reset thermal overloadprotection or manual reset calibrated circuitbreakers.3. Shafts shall have inherent corrosion resistance.4. Fan blades shall be statically and dynamicallybalanced.5. Condenser-fan openings shall be equipped withPVC-coated steel wire safety guards.D. Compressors:1. Compressors shall be rotary scroll.2. Operating oil charge and a crankcase heatercontrol oil dilution.3. Compressors shall be mounted on two rails hav-ing rubber in shear vibration isolators.4. Staging of compressors shall provide unloadingcapability. Digital compressor unloading controlshall be available as an option on one circuit(not available on 065 unit).5. Compressor motors shall be cooled by refriger-ant gas passing through motor windings andshall have either internal line break thermal andcurrent overload protection or external currentoverload modules with compressor temperaturesensors.E. Condenser Coils:1. Coil shall be air-cooled microchannel heatexchanger (MCHX) and shall have a seriesof flat tubes containing a series of multiple, par-allel flow microchannels layered between therefrigerant manifolds. Microchannel coils shallconsist of a two-pass arrangement. Coil con-struction shall consist of aluminum alloys for thefins, tubes and manifolds in combination with acorrosion-resistant coating on the tubes.2. Tubes shall be cleaned, dehydrated, and sealed.3. Assembled condenser coils shall be leak testedand pressure tested at 650 psig (4482 kPa).F. Refrigeration Components:1. Refrigeration circuit components shall includeliquid line temperature relief device, pressuretransducers, liquid line shutoff valve, suctionshutoff valve, suction line accumulators, nitro-gen holding charge, and compressor oil.Guide specifications
