If a problem exists, refer to the Start-Upsection.Evaporator AirflowThe heating and/or cooling airflow does not require checking unlessimproper performance is suspected. If a problem exists, be sure that allsupply- and return-air grilles are open and free from obstructions, andthat the air filter is clean. When necessary, refer to the Indoor Airflowand Airflow Adjustments section to check the system airflow.R-454B ItemsThe indoor metering device is either a TXV or orifice type devicedepending on size.Pressure SwitchesPressure switches are protective devices wired into control circuit (lowvoltage). They shut off compressor if abnormally high or low pressuresare present in the refrigeration circuit. These pressure switches arespecifically designed to operate with R-454B systems. R-22 pressureswitches must not be used as replacements for the R-454B system.High-Pressure SwitchThe high-pressure switch is located in the discharge line and protectsagainst excessive condenser coil pressure. It opens at 650 psig.High pressure may be caused by a dirty outdoor coil, failed fan motor, oroutdoor air recirculation. To check switch:1. Turn off all power to unit.2. Disconnect leads on switch.3. Apply ohm meter leads across switch. You should have continuityon a closed switch.Compressor ( Refrigerant)The compressor used in this product is specifically designed to operatewith R-454B refrigerant and cannot be interchanged. The compressor is an electrical (as well as mechanical) device. Exerciseextreme caution when working near compressors. Power should be shutoff, if possible, for most troubleshooting techniques. Refrigerantspresent additional safety hazards. For models that have a scroll compressor, the compressor pumpsrefrigerant throughout the system by the interaction of a stationary andan orbiting scroll. The scroll compressor has no dynamic suction ordischarge valves, and it is more tolerant of stresses caused by debris, liquid slugging, and flooded starts. The compressor is equipped with anoise reducing shutdown device and an internal pressure relief port. Thepressure relief port is a safety device, designed to protect againstextreme high pressure. The relief port has an operating range between550 (26.34 kPa) and 625 psig (29.93 kPa) differential pressure.Refrigerant SystemThis information covers the refrigerant system including the compressoroil needed, servicing systems on roofs containing synthetic materials, thefilter drier and refrigerant charging.Compressor OilThe Copeland scroll compressor uses 3MAF POE oil. If additional oil isneeded, use Uniqema RL32-3MAF. If this oil is not available, useCopeland Ultra 32 CC or Mobil Arctic EAL22 CC. Keeptorches and other ignition sources away from refrigerants and oils.WARNING!EXPLOSION, ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY HAZARDFailure to follow this warning could result in personal injury, death orequipment damage. This system uses R-454B refrigerant which has higher operatingpressures than R-22 and other refrigerants. No other refrigerant may beused in this system. Gauge set, hoses, and recovery system must bedesigned to handle R-454B. If you are unsure, consult the equipmentmanufacturer.
