E-12Selecting and Playing a ToneYour digital piano comes equipped with three pedals:damper, soft, and sostenutoPedal Functionsz Damper PedalPressing the damper pedal while playing will causethe notes you play to reverberate for a very longtime.• When GRAND PIANO 1, GRAND PIANO 2, orGRAND PIANO 3 is selected as the tone, pressingthis pedal will cause notes to reverberate just likethe damper pedal on an acoustic grand piano.Half-pedal operation (pressing the pedal part way)is also supported.z Soft PedalPressing this pedal while playing suppresses notesplayed on the keyboard after the pedal was pressed,and makes them sound softer.z Sostenuto PedalOnly the notes that are played while this pedal aredepressed are sustained until the pedal is released.1. Press the METRONOME button.• This will start the metronome.• The two lamps above the START/STOP button willflash along with the metronome beats.2. To change the beat, hold down theMETRONOME button as you press the/NO or /YES button.• You can select a beat value in the range of 2 through6. A chime sounds as the first beat of each measure,and the remaining beats sound as clicks. Specifying 0as the setting plays a straight click, without anychime. This setting lets you practice with a steadybeat.3. Press the TEMPO/SETTING button.• This will cause the button’s lamp to flash.4. Use the /NO and /YES buttons toadjust the tempo in a range of 20 to 255 beatsper minute.5. Press the TEMPO/SETTING button again.• This will cause the lamp above the button to go out.6.
