Use only asponge, soft cloth, fibrous or plastic brush or nylon cleaningpad for cleaning the surfaces of your oven.• Do not use a steam cleaner to clean the oven. Steam couldpenetrate the electrical components and cause a short circuit.• Do not try to remove heavy spills with a sharp object suchas a knife or metal spatula. Sharp objects may scratch youroven’s surfaces.Your Oven’s Self Clean FeatureAbout the Self Clean Cycle• the oven will run better and produce better bakedgoods when it is clean. During self cleaning, the ovenis heated to very high temperatures which burn offany deposits on the surfaces of the oven. self cleaningeliminates the need for manual scrubbing of interiorsurfaces. the self clean process takes about 2 to 4hours.• it is normal for the oven to emit smoke during thefirst few self clean cycles. It is also normal for theoven to emit popping sounds during self cleaning.these sounds are caused by the expansion and con-traction of metal surfaces when the oven heats up andcools down.• self clean mode will not function if the meat probe isconnected.warning• Always wipe up excess grease and other food spills with adamp cloth prior to using the self clean cycle. Doing so willminimize smoke and increase efficiency. See proper cleaninginstructions on this page.• Do not touch the outside surfaces of the oven during the selfclean cycle. They will be hot.• Items left in the oven during self cleaning will becomedamaged or damage the oven.Care and CleaningHow to Use the Self Clean FeatureimportantOn double ovens, the control panel will only allow one ovenchamber to be self cleaned at a time due to the amount of powerconsumed. Also, the double oven’s computer will not allow you tocook in one oven while the other is in self clean mode.1. before self cleaning the oven, remove the racks, theconvection filter, all cookware (pots, pans, forks, etc.),the meat probe, foil and any other loose objects fromthe oven chamber. see page 25 for filter cleaninginstructions.2. clean soil from the porcelain surfaces of the dooroutside of the door gasket. rinse surfaces well witha solution of vinegar and water, then wipe dry. heav-ily soiled areas may be cleaned with a non-scratchingscouring pad.3. clean the door gasket by dabbing it with a solution ofwater and mild soap.caution• Take extreme caution when cleaning the door gasket.Rubbing or displacing it may damage the tight door sealrequired for proper cooking and self cleaning.• Do not try to force the door open after it is locked. Damage tothe door or latch may result.4. turn on kitchen fans or vents to help remove odorsduring the self clean cycle.5. make sure the oven door is shut.6. press the selF Clean key.7. press the DuratIon key, then the 2, 3 or 4 key toselect the number of hours of self clean time (2-light,3-medium and 4-heavy). Longer self clean times arefor cleaning a heavier build up of grease and grime.8. press the start key (located on the far left of thecontrol panel.)the control panel automatically locks the oven doorduring self cleaning. the latch prevents the door frombeing opened since the high interior oven temperaturescan easily cause injury. If the door is not shut, an errormessage will appear on the display. to correct the prob-lem, press CanCel · seCure and wait approximatelyone minute, then close the door. when the door is prop-erly closed, start the self clean process again.the display shows the self clean cycle status:• the clean symbol indicates that self clean isin process.• the lock symbol indicates that the door islatched.• “on” indicates that the heating elements areon.1 2
