Improper installation can result in water or refrigerantleakage, electrical shock, fire, or explosion.Meanings of DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, and NOTEsymbols:DANGER ................Indicates an imminently hazardoussituation which,if not avoided, willresult in death or serious injury.WARNING ..............Indicates a potentially hazardous situ-ation which, if not avoided, couldresult in death or serious injury.CAUTION ...............Indicates a potentially hazardous situ-ation which, if not avoided, may resultin minor or moderate injury. It mayalso be used to alert against unsafepractices.NOTE ......................Indicates a situation that may result inaccidents involving only equipment orproperty.DANGER• Refrigerant gas is heavier than air and displaces oxy-gen. A massive leak could lead to oxygen depletion,especially in basements, and an asphyxiation hazardcould occur leading to serious injury or death.• Do not install unit in an area where flammable materi-als are present as this can cause risk of explosionresulting in serious injury or death.• If the refrigerant gas leaks during installation, ventilatethe area immediately.Refrigerant gas may produce toxic gas if it comes in contactwith fire such as from a fan heater, stove, or cooking device.Exposure to this gas could cause severe injury or death.• Any abnormalities in the operation of the air condi-tioner such as smoke or fire could result in severeinjury or death.Turn off the power and contact your dealer immediately forinstructions.• If equipment utilizing a burner is used in the sameroom as the air conditioner, there is the danger of oxy-gen deficiency which could lead to an asphyxiationhazard resulting in serious injury or death. Be sure toventilate the room sufficiently to avoid this hazard.• After completing the installation work, check that therefrigerant gas does not leak.Refrigerant gas may produce toxic gas if it comes in contactwith fire such as from a fan, heater, stove, or cookingdevice. Exposure to this gas could cause severe injury ordeath.• Do not ground unit to water pipes. Do not ground unit togas pipes because a gas leak could result in an explo-sion which could lead to severe injury or death.• Do not ground the unit to telephone wires or lightningrods as lightning strikes could cause a severe shockhazard resulting in severe injury or death.• Children playing with plastic bags face the danger ofdeath by suffocation. Tear apart and throw away plasticpackaging bags so that children will not play with them.• Safely dispose of the packing materials.• Packing materials, such as nails and other metal or woodenparts, may cause stabs or other injuries. Tear apart andthrow away plastic packaging bags so that children will notplay with them• Ask your dealer or qualified personnel to carry outinstallation work. If left in adamaged condition, the unit may fall and cause injury.• Do not touch the air outlet or the horizontal flaps whilethe swing flap is in operation as fingers may get caughtand injured.• Do not allow children to play on or around the unit asthey could be injured.• Make sure that all wiring is secured, the specifiedwires are used, and no external forces act on the termi-nal connections or wires.Improper connections or installation may result in fire.• When wiring the power supply and connecting theremote controller wiring and transmission wiring,position the wires so that the electrical parts box lidcan be securely fastened.
