UnitsMUST be treated at a specialised treatment facility forreuse, recycling and recovery.12.1 Overview: DisposalTypical workflowDisposing of the system typically consists of the following stages:1 Pumping down the system.2 Bringing the system to a specialized treatment facility.INFORMATIONFor more details, see the service manual.12.2 To pump downExample: To protect the environment, pump down when relocatingthe unit or when disposing of the unit.DANGER: RISK OF EXPLOSIONPump down – Refrigerant leakage. If you want to pumpdown the system, and there is a leak in the refrigerantcircuit:▪ Do NOT use the unit's automatic pump down function,with which you can collect all refrigerant from thesystem into the outdoor unit. Possible consequence:Self-combustion and explosion of the compressorbecause of air going into the operating compressor.▪ Use a separate recovery system so that the unit'scompressor does NOT have to operate.NOTICEDuring pump down operation, stop the compressor beforeremoving the refrigerant piping. If the compressor is stillrunning and the stop valve is open during pump down, airwill be sucked into the system. Compressor breakdown ordamage to the system can result due to abnormal pressurein the refrigerant cycle.Pump down operation will extract all refrigerant from the system intothe outdoor unit.1 Remove the valve cap from the liquid stop valve and the gasstop valve.2 Carry out forced cooling. See "12.3 To start and stop forcedcooling" on page 23.3 After 5 to 10 minutes (after only 1 or 2 minutes in case of verylow ambient temperatures (<−10°C)), close the liquid stop valvewith a hexagonal wrench.4 Check on the manifold if the vacuum is reached.5 After 2-3 minutes, close the gas stop valve and stop forcedcooling.cbeddaa Gas stop valveb Closing directionc Hexagonal wrenchd Valve cape Liquid stop valve12.3 To start and stop forced coolingThere are 2 methods to perform forced cooling.▪ Method 1. Using the indoor unit ON/OFF switch (if present on theindoor unit).▪ Method 2. Using the indoor unit user interface.12.3.1 To start/stop forced cooling using theindoor unit ON/OFF switch1 Press the ON/OFF switch for at least 5 seconds.Result: Operation will start.INFORMATIONForced cooling stops automatically after 15 minutes.2 To stop operation sooner, press the ON/OFF switch.12.3.2 To start/stop forced cooling using theindoor unit user interface1 Set the operation mode to cooling.For the procedure, refer to "To perform a test run" in the installationmanual of the indoor unit.Note: Forced cooling will stop automatically after around 30 minutes.2 To stop operation sooner, press the ON/OFF switch.INFORMATIONIf forced cooling is used and the outside temperature is <−10°C, the safety device may prevent operation. Warm theoutside temperature thermistor on the outdoor unit to ≥−10°C. Result: Operation will start.
