Cautions on handling the stop valve cover The stop valve cover is sealed where indicated by the arrow.Take care not to damage it. After handling the stop valve, make sure to tighten the stopvalve cover securely. For the tightening torque, refer to the tablebelow. Check for refrigerant leaks after tightening the stop valve cover.10.3.4. Cautions on handling the service port Always use a charge hose equipped with a valve depressor pin, since the service port is a Schrader type valve. After handling the service port, make sure to tighten the serviceport cover securely. For the tightening torque, refer to the tablebelow. Check for refrigerant leaks after tightening the service portcover.10.3.5. Tightening torques10.4. Leak test and vacuum dryingIt is very important that all refrigerant piping work is done before theunits (outdoor or indoor) are powered on.When the units are powered on, the expansion valves will initialize. This means that they will close. Leak test and vacuum drying of fieldpiping and indoor units is impossible when this happens. Therefore, there will be explained 2 methods for initial installation, leak test and vacuum drying.10.4.1. General guidelines Use a 2-stage vacuum pump with a non-return valve which canevacuate to a gauge pressure of –100.7 kPa (5 Torr absolute,–755 mm Hg). Connect the vacuum pump to the service port of all 3 stop valvesto increase efficiency (refer to "10.4.4. Setup" on page 21).10.4.2. Installation of refrigerant piping, leak test, vacuumingbefore electrical installation is done (regular installationmethod)When all piping work is complete, it is necessary to: Check for any leakages in the refrigerant piping. Perform vacuum drying to remove all moisture, air or nitrogen inthe refrigerant piping. If there is a possibility of moisture being present in the refrigerantpiping (for example, rainwater may have entered the piping), carryout the vacuum drying procedure below until all moisture has beenremoved. All piping inside the unit has been factory tested for leaks.Only field installed refrigerant piping needs to be checked. Therefore, make sure that all the outdoor unit stop valves are firmly closedbefore performing leak test or vacuum drying.See "10.4.4. Setup" on page 21 and "10.4. Leak test and vacuumdrying" on page 20.10.4.3. Installation of refrigerant piping, leak test, vacuumingafter electrical installation is done on any indoor oroutdoor unitApply outdoor unit setting [2-21]=1 (refer to "15.2. Monitoring functionand field settings" on page 38) before starting leak test andvacuuming. This setting will open field expansion valves to guaranteea R410A piping pathway. When all piping work is complete, it is necessary to: Check for any leakages in the refrigerant piping.
