Leak detection functionThe (automatic) leak detection function is not by default activated.The (automatic) leak detection function can only start working whenboth below conditions are fulfilled:1 The additional refrigerant charge was inputted in the system'slogic (see "[2-14]=" on page 40).2 The system test run was executed (see "15.5. Test operation" onpage 44), including the detailed refrigerant situation check.When above conditions are fulfilled, the leak detection function canbe used.The leak detection operation can be automated. By changingparameter [2-85] to chosen value, the interval time or the time till thenext automatic leak detection operation can be chosen. Theparameter [2-86] defines whether the leak detection operation isexecuted one time (within [2-85] days) or intermittent, respecting aninterval of [2-85] days. For details, see page 41.Availability of the leak detection function feature requires input of theadditional refrigerant charge amount immediately after finishing thecharging. The input must be executed before performing the testoperation.When the leak detection functionality was initially not required butactivation is wanted on a later moment, it is required to fulfil belowconditions: The additional refrigerant charge needs to be inputted in thesystem's logic. The system test run has to be re-executed.Executing the leak detection function one time at site can also bedone by following procedure.Push BS2 one time. Push BS2 one more time. Push BS2 5 seconds.Leak detection function will start. To abort leak detection operation,push BS1.Information codes: E-1: unit is not prepared to execute leak detection operation(refer to requirements to be able to execute leak detectionoperation). E-2: indoor unit is out of temperature range for leak detectionoperation. E-3: outdoor unit is out of temperature range for leak detectionoperation. E-4: too low pressure was noticed during leak detectionoperation. Restart leak detection operation. E-5: indicates an indoor unit which is not compatible with leakdetection functionality is installed (e.g., RA DX indoor unit,Hydrobox, …).Result of leak detection operation is informed in [1-35] and [1-29].15.4. Energy saving and optimum operationThis VRV IV heat pump system is equipped with advanced energysaving functionality. Depending on the priority, emphasises can beput on energy saving or comfort level. Several parameters can beselected, resulting in the optimal balance between energyconsumption and comfort for the particular application.Several patterns are available and explained below. Modify theparameters to the needs of your building and to realize the bestbalance between energy consumption and comfort.15.4.1. Three main operation methods are available: BasicThe refrigerant temperature is fixed independent from thesituation. It corresponds to the standard operation which isknown and can be expected from/under previous VRV systems: To activate this operation method under cooling operation:change field setting [2-8]=2. To activate this operation method under heating operation:change field setting [2-9]=6. AutomaticThe refrigerant temperature is set depending on the outdoorambient conditions. As such adjusting the refrigeranttemperature to match the required load (which is also related tothe outdoor ambient conditions).E.g., when your system is operating in cooling, you do not needas much cooling under low outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g.,25°C) as under high outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., 35°C).Using this idea, the system automatically starts increasing itsrefrigerant temperature, automatically reducing the deliveredcapacity and increasing the system's efficiency.[2-86]= Automatic leak detection activationWhen you want to use the automatic leak detectionfunction you have to activate this setting. By activatingsetting [2-86], the automatic leak detection will beexecuted depending on the defined value setting. Thetiming for the next automatic refrigerant leak detection issubject to setting [2-85]. The automatic leak detectionwill be executed in [2-85] days.Each time when the automatic leak detection functionwas executed the system will stay idle until it is restartedby manual thermo ON request or by next scheduledaction.Default value=0.[2-88]= Gathering detailed refrigerant information during testrun. For more details, see "15.4. Energy saving andoptimum operation" on page 42.(a) It is necessary to use the optional external control adaptor for outdoor unit(DTA104A61/62). The leak detection function is not available whenHydrobox units or RA DX indoor units are connectedto the system. When the height difference between indoor units is≥50 m, the leak detection function can not be used.
