Several parameters can be selected, resulting in theoptimal balance between energy consumption and comfort for theparticular application.Several patterns are available and explained below. Modify the pa-rameters to the needs of your building and to realize the best balancebetween energy consumption and comfort.15 3 1 Three main operation methods are available:• BasicThe refrigerant temperature is fixed independent from the situation. It corresponds to the standard operation which is known and can beexpected from/under previous VRV systems:• To activate this operation method under cooling operation:change field setting [2-8]=2 and [2-47]=2.• To activate this operation method under heating operation:change field setting [2-9]=6.• AutomaticThe refrigerant temperature is set depending on the outdoor ambi-ent conditions. As such adjusting the refrigerant temperature tomatch the required load (which is also related to the outdoor ambi-ent conditions).E.g., when your system is operating in cooling, you do not need asmuch cooling under low outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., 77°F(25°C)) as under high outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., 95°F(35°C)).Using this idea, the system automatically starts increasing its refrig-erant temperature, automatically reducing the delivered capacityand increasing the system’s efficiency.• To activate this operation method under cooling operation:change field setting [2-8]=0 (default) and [2-47]=0 (default).E.g., when your system is operating in heating, you do not need asmuch heating under high outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., 59°F(15°C)) as under low outdoor ambient temperatures (e.g., 23°F(–5°C)).Using this idea, the system automatically starts decreasing its re-frigerant temperature, automatically reducing the delivered capacityand increasing the system’s efficiency.• To activate this operation method under heating operation:change field setting [2-9]=0 (default).• Hi-sensible/economic (cooling/heating)The refrigerant temperature is set higher/lower (cooling/heating)compared to basic operation. The focus under high sensible modeis comfort feeling for the customer. The selection method of indoor units is important and has to beconsidered as the available capacity is not the same as under basicoperation. For details concerning to Hi-sensible applications, pleasecontact your dealer.• To activate this setting under cooling operation: change fieldsetting [2-8] and [2-47] to the appropriate value, matching therequirements of the pre-designed system containing a highsensible solution.Value[2-8] and [2-47] Te target3 45°F (7°C)4 46°F (8°C)5 48°F (9°C)6 50°F (10°C)7 52°F (11°C)• To activate this setting under heating operation: change fieldsetting [2-9] to the appropriate value, matching the require-ments of the pre-designed system containing a high sensiblesolution.Value[2-9] Tc target1 106°F (41°C)3 109°F (43°C)15 3 2 Several comfort settings are availableFor each of above modes a comfort level can be selected. The comfortlevel is related to the timing and the effort (energy consumption) whichis put in achieving a certain room temperature by temporarily chang-ing the refrigerant temperature to different values in order to achieverequested conditions more quickly.• PowerfulOvershoot (during heating operation) or undershoot (during coolingoperation) is allowed compared to the requested refrigerant tem-perature, in order to achieve the required room temperature veryfast. The overshoot is allowed from the start up moment. In case of cooling operation the evaporating temperature is allowedto go down to 37°F (3°C) on temporary base depending on thesituation. In case of heating operation the condense temperature is allowedto go up to 120°F (49°C) on temporary base depending on the situ-ation.When the request from the indoor units becomes more moderate, the system will eventually go to the steady state condition which isdefined by the operation method above.• To activate the powerful comfort setting under cooling opera-tion, change field setting [2-81]=3.This setting is used in conjunction with setting [2-8] and [2-47].• To activate the powerful comfort setting under heating opera-tion, change field setting [2-82]=3.This setting is used in conjunction with setting [2-9].• QuickOvershoot (during heating operation) or undershoot (during coolingoperation) is allowed compared to the requested refrigerant tem-perature, in order to achieve the required room temperature veryfast. The overshoot is allowed from the start up moment.
