26 Scoreboard Troubleshooting5.2 Component LocationsComponent location varies with each scoreboard model. Refer to the component locationdrawings in Appendix A. Drivers and power and signal components are typically mountedinside the scoreboard behind a digit or access panel. There are several ways to locate theaccess panels:Power Warning LabelLook for a power warning label toward the bottom of the access panel (Figure 12). This is thelocation of the master driver. Refer to the component locations drawings to determine thenumber of drivers for a particular scoreboard model.Panel HingesAccess panels typically have raised hinges to allow them to easily swing open.Conduit KnockoutsMost scoreboards have knockouts for the electrical and signal conduits on the rear that willmatch up with an access panel on the front. Conduits will only run to the master driver.5.3 Component AccessFor front-access scoreboards, all internalelectronic components and digits are reachedby opening an access door or a digit panel onthe front of the display.Digit panels are held in place on thescoreboard face by an offset flange across thetop and by screws at the bottom, as shown inFigure 18.To open a digit panel:1. Hold the digit panel in place byputting hand pressure on it andremove the holding screws.2. Carefully lift the panel away from thescoreboard, sliding it out and down.Note: If the panel is not held in place when the screws are removed, it could dropand possibly damage LEDs or the digit harness. With a non-digit access panel, simply remove the top, side and bottom screws holding it inplace. Some panels are hinged and swing open when the screws are removed or loosened.Note: When closing the access panel, make sure all latches/screws are holding the doorfirmly in place to prevent moisture and debris from entering the scoreboard.Figure 18: LED Digit Panel
