DMS ManualIntroduction Operating instructionsDMS Version no. 02These operating instructions can be used for allDMS 300 units with version no. 02.The version no. can be identified from the productserial number. The 5th and 6th digit from leftpertain to the version no.Thus serial number xxxx-02-xxx indicatesversion no. 02. Symbols used in this manualWhen reading this manual you will come acrossdifferent symbols that require special attention. The symbols used are the following:NB!:Indicates something to be noted by the readerIndicates a general warningIndicates a high voltage warning General warningThe DMS contains dangerous voltageswhen connected to line voltage. Only acompetent electrician should carry out theelectrical installation. Improper installation of the motoror the DMS may cause equipment failure, seriousinjury or death. Follow this manual as well as nationaland local rules and safety regulations. Safety regulations1. The DMS must be disconnected from the mainsif repair work is to be carried out.2. The [COASTING STOP INVERSE] commandapplied to the DMS does not disconnect theequipment from the mains and thus is not tobe used as a safety switch. It is the responsibility of the user or theperson installing the DMS to provide propergrounding and branch circuit protection inaccordance with national and local regulations. Warning against unintended start1. The motor can be brought to a stop by meansof digital commands, bus commands or a localstop, while the DMS is connected to the mains. Ifpersonal safety considerations make it necessaryto ensure that no unintended start occurs, thesestop functions are not sufficient.2. A motor that has been stopped may start if faultsoccur in the electronics of the DMS. Avoiding DMS damagePlease read and follow all instructions in this manual.Electrostatic Precaution; Electrostaticdischarge (ESD). Many electroniccomponents are sensitive to staticelectricity. Voltages so low that they cannot befelt, seen or heard, can reduce the life, affectperformance, or completely destroy sensitiveelectronic components. When performing service, proper ESD equipment should be used to preventpossible damage from occurring.MG.05.A2.02 - VLT is a registered Danfoss trademark 3
