19MG.60.N1.22 - VLT is a registered Danfoss trademarkVLT® 5000 / VLT® 6000 HVAC / VLT® 8000 AQUANetworkInitializationof LonWorksOption CardResourcefilesA LonMark interface file (.XIF extension)provides the host processor with deviceinformation. With this, it is possible to design aLonWorks network without the adjustablefrequency drive being physically present. The resource files (VLTLON.XIF andDanfossVSD_03.*) can be downloaded fromthe Internet site www.danfoss.com/drives.Echelon Corporation has also developed a setof free plug-ins available through their web siteat www.echelon.com/plugin/default.htm. Alsointended for network design, these plug-insprovide easy access to screens which simplifythe process of manually setting up the drive, testing, and monitoring operation. The LonWorks option card contains a NEURONchip with a unique address. After hardwareinstallation, initialize the LonWorks option card.Addressing nodes on the LonWorks networkis performed at installation time by aninstallation tool or network management tool.Addressing requires the retrieval of a node’sNEURON ID. The N EURON ID is a 48 bit numberthat identifies every manufactured N EURONchip. There are several methods by which thenetwork software will initialize the driveautomatically. The network can recognize thedrive without action beyond properinstallation. The card is then ready to beprogrammed for network operation. The VLTLonWorks option supports three additionalmethods of addressing a node:1. Service Pin - There are twomomentary-contact service switches thatsend the NEURON ID over the network. If thenetwork software prompts the action, presseither service pin (SW1 or SW3) to transmitthe N EURON ID over the network. The servicepin locations are shown in the illustration inTerminator and Service Switch Locations inthis manual.2. Query and Wink - The LonWorks optioncard is shipped with a domain of “0” andsubnet of “1.” Upon receiving the winkcommand, the on-board green status LEDflashes so that the installer can locate thenode. The chip sends out its Neuron ID overthe network in response to the querycommand.3. N EURON ID Label - The VLT LonWorksoption card has a N EURON ID label thatdisplays the N EURON ID as a 12 digithexadecimal number. The installer canmanually enter the N EURON ID duringinstallation. The drive may also be added to the networkupon initialization. The VLT LonWorks network interfaceconsists of SNVTs and SCPT. The SNVTssupport the LonMark Controller Profile alongwith VLT configuration, control and moni-toring capabilities. Any combination of SNVTscan be used to operate the VLT.We also support the Functional Profile forVariable Speed Drives version 1.1 from theLonMark organisation. This profile defines aset of Network variables (SNVT) andconfiguration properties (SCPT).
