5.2.12 Safe Torque OffThe Safe Torque Off (STO) function is used to stop thedrive in emergency stop situations. The drive can use theSTO function with asynchronous, synchronous, andpermanent magnet motors. For more information about Safe Torque Off, includinginstallation and commissioning, refer to the VLT® FC Series -Safe Torque Off Operating Guide.Liability conditionsThe customer is responsible for ensuring that personnelknow how to install and operate the Safe Torque Offfunction by:• Reading and understanding the safety regulationsconcerning health, safety, and accidentprevention.• Understanding the generic and safety guidelinesprovided in the VLT® FC Series - Safe Torque OffOperating Guide.• Having a good knowledge of the generic andsafety standards for the specific application.5.3 Specific VLT® AQUA Drive FC 202FeaturesThe VLT® AQUA Drive FC 202 is designed for water andwastewater applications. The wide range of standard andoptional features includes optimized SmartStart and quickmenu with a focus on water and wastewater applications:• Cascade controlBasic cascade control is built in as standard, witha capacity of up to 3 pumps. Cascade controlprovides speed control of a single pump in amulti-pump system. This feature is a cost-attractive solution for booster sets. Systems withmultiple variable speed pumps require the VLT®Extended Cascade Controller MCO 101 or theVLT® Advanced Cascade Controller MCO 102.• Motor alternationThe motor alternation functionality is suitable forapplications with 2 motors or 2 pumps sharing 1drive.• Flow compensationFlow compensation adapts the setpoint accordingto the flow, enabling mounting of the pressuresensor close to the pump.• Dry-run detectionThe feature prevents damage of the pump byavoiding dry-running and pump overheat.• End-of-curve detectionThe feature detects when the pump is running atmaximum speed and the setpoint cannot bereached for a user-defined time period.• DeraggingThis preventive or reactive cleaning feature isdesigned for pumps in wastewater applications.See chapter 5.6 Deragging Overview for details.• Initial/final rampsProgramming of short ramp times to/fromminimum speed protects bearings, and ensuressufficient cooling in applications with submersiblepumps.• Check valve protectionA slow ramp-down rate protects check valves andprevents water hammering.• STOSTO enables safe torque off (coast) when a criticalsituation occurs.• Low-flow detectionThis feature detects no-flow or low-flowconditions of the system.• Sleep modeThe sleep mode feature saves energy by stoppingthe pump when there is no demand.• Pipe fill modePipe fill mode comprises functionalities to fillpipes smoothly and avoid water hammering. Thisfeature provides different modes for horizontaland vertical pipes.• Real time clock• Smart logic control (SLC)SLC comprises programming of a sequenceconsisting of events and actions. SLC offers awide range of PLC functions using comparators, logic rules, and timers.• Pre/post LubeSee chapter 5.7 Pre/post Lube Overview for details.• Flow confirmationSee chapter 5.8 Flow Confirmation Overview fordetails.• Advanced minimum speed monitoring forsubmersible pumpsSee chapter 5.9 Advanced Minimum SpeedMonitoring Overview for details.• Preventive maintenanceThe preventive maintenance feature enablesprogramming of scheduled service intervals intothe drive.Product Features Design GuideMG22B222 Danfoss A/S © 01/2018 All rights reserved. 255 5
