4 Start Up1. Input power to unit must be OFF and locked outper OSHA requirements. Do not rely on paneldisconnect switches.WARNINGHIGH VOLTAGE!IF INPUT AND OUTPUT CONNECTIONS HAVE BEENCONNECTED IMPROPERLY, THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR HIGHVOLTAGE ON THESE TERMINALS. IF POWER LEADS FORMULTIPLE MOTORS ARE IMPROPERLY RUN IN SAMECONDUIT, THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR LEAKAGE CURRENT TOCHARGE CAPACITORS WITHIN OPTION PANEL, EVEN WHENDISCONNECTED FROM LINE INPUT. FOR INITIAL START UP,MAKE NO ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT POWER COMPONENTS.FOLLOW PRE-START PROCEDURES DESCRIBED BELOW.FAILURE TO FOLLOW PRE-START PROCEDURES DESCRIBEDBELOW COULD RESULT IN DEATH, SERIOUS INJURY ORDAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.1. Use AC voltmeter to verify there is no voltage oninput terminals L1, L2, and L3, phase-to-phaseand phase-to-ground, and output terminals T1,T2, and T3, phase-tophase and phase-to-ground.2. Use ohmmeter to confirm continuity of motor bymeasuring T1-T2, T2-T3, and T3-T1.3. Use ohmmeter to confirm open on input bymeasuring L1-L2, L2-L3, and L3-L1.NOTEIf an isolation transformer is between the power sourceand panel, continuity will be present. In this case, visuallyconfirm that motor and power leads are not reversed.4. Inspect the panel for loose connections onterminals.5. Check for proper ground: option panel to mainbuilding distribution ground, and option panel tomotor ground. See label inside panel cover forproper wire size.6. Confirm control connections terminated perconnection diagrams supplied with theequipment.7. Check for external devices between drive optionpanel output and motor. It is recommended thatno devices be installed between motor and drive.8. Record motor nameplate data; hp, voltage, fullload amps (FLA), and RPM. It will be needed tomatch motor and drive later on.9. Confirm that incoming power voltage matchesdrive label voltage and motor nameplate voltage.10. For multiple winding motors, motor must bewired on run winding, not start winding.CAUTIONEQUIPMENT DAMAGE!IF MOTOR FLA (FULL LOAD AMPERAGE) IS GREATER THANUNIT MAXIMUM AMPS, DRIVE AND OPTION PANEL MUSTBE REPLACED WITH ONE OF APPROPRIATE RATING. DONOT ATTEMPT TO RUN UNIT. FAILURE TO MATCH FLA TOUNIT MAXIMUM AMP RATING MAY RESULT IN EQUIPMENTDAMAGE.1. Confirm motor FLA is equal to or less thanmaximum option panel output current. Somemotors have higher then normal NEMA currents.2. Check that overload relay(s) is set for FLA ofconnected motor. Service factor is built intooverload relay.3.
