32MaintenanceWHEEL MAINTENANCEThese wheels are maintenance free from truingand dressing but will need to be cleaned peri-odically. Disconnect the power from themachine using a lock out tag out pro-cedure. After removing the wheel from thesharpener, saturate the wheel with any type ofoil-less solvent, such as Automotive BrakeCleaner. It is helpful to use a soft bristle brushand lightly brush the saturated wheel, loosen-ing the impacted grinding particles. Re-saturatethe wheel to flush out any loosened debris. Donot use any type of dressing tool on thesewheels. Damage to surface will occur andgreatly shorten the wheel life.NOTE: If after cleaning wheel, the drills stilldiscolor or burn, the wheel life may be ex-hausted and the wheel will need to be re-placed.CHUCK MAINTENANCEThe use of a dust extraction system duringgrinding will help reduce the amount of mainte-nance, however, the chuck assembly should bedisassembled and cleaned periodically. See XT-3000 instruction manual for detailed disassem-bly instructions.GRIT TRAYAt the back of the XT-3000 machine, locatedunderneath the grinding motor is the grit tray.Drill grindings will accumulate inside the grittray. The grit tray hasa magnetic liner toattract and hold thesedust particles. Do notlet the tray becomemore than 1/3 full. Toremove tray, unscrewbrass thumb screw.Remove tray anddump contents. Wipeexcess dust from thetray with a rag.Darex recommends the use of a dust ex-traction system when the Auto Attach-ment is in use.
