5Safety InstructionsGROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS• FOR ALL GROUNDED CORD CONNECTEDTOOLS:• In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, ground-ing provides a path of least resistance for electriccurrent to reduce the risk of electric shock. This toolis equipped with an electric cord having an equip-ment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug.The plug must be plugged into a matching outlet thatis properly installed and grounded in accordance withall local codes and ordinances. Do not modify theplug provided if it will not fit the outlet, have theproper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Im-proper connection of the equipment-grounding con-ductor can result in a risk of electric shock. The con-ductor with insulation, having an outer surface that isgreen with or without yellow stripes, is the equip-ment-grounding conductor. If repair or replacementof the electric cord or plug is necessary, do not con-nect the equipment-grounding conductor to a liveterminal. Check with a qualified electrician or service-man if the grounding instructions are not completelyunderstood, or if in doubt as to whether the tool isproperly grounded. Use only 3-wire extension cordsthat have 3-prong grounding plugs and 3-pole recep-tacles that accept the tool’s plug.
