NVRAM Battery Charging Instructions16 System Hardware GuideNVRAM Battery Charging InstructionsIf the NVRAM card in your Data Domain system has fully charged batteries, the system starts upnormally. In most systems, however, the batteries need to be charged to ensure they are either at ornear maximum capacity.If the batteries are partially discharged when you power up the system, an error light at the back ofthe NVRAM card begins blinking, and an error message similar to the following appears on theconsole:NVRAM0: Size 5224288 KB, Battery 1 Enabled (FAILURE), Battery 2Enabled (FAILURE)Although the batteries begin to recharge after the system is powered on, it can take up to threehours before they are fully charged. The system cannot be used before all of the batteries are fullycharged. Plan ahead when you schedule your installation.Battery Charge VerificationNote Depending on the system, a NVRAM card has either two or three batteries. Some systemscontain two NVRAM cards.Follow these instructions if your system starts up normally:1. Enter the command system show nvram to check that each battery is enabled andcharged.
