4 InstallationSecure Printing RequirementsSecure printing consists of encrypting print commands and card data andtransmitting the information securely from the PC to the printer. To useencryption, your printer must support secure printing. Printers that supportsecure printing are shipped with all communication protocols (secure and non‐secure) enabled. Refer to “Behavior ” on page 43 for more information aboutusing the Printer Manager web service to specify printer security settings.When you use the Card Printer Driver, make sure that the secure printing protocol(DPCL2Secure) is enabled and that the DPCL2 non‐secure communicationprotocol is disabled. DPCL must remain enabled for the Card Printer Driver tofunction. For more information, refer to your card printer’s Driver Guide.If your card production site requires secure printing, use the following:• Datacard SD260L, SD360, or SD460 card printers with DPCL2Secure enabledand DPCL2 disabled• A PC that meets the PC requirements cited earlier in this section• Ethernet and USB connections that meet the requirements• Internet Explorer 5.5 or newer installed on the PCThe SD260 and early models of SD printers (SD260L printers with serial numbersbelow D11000, and SD360 printers with serial numbers below B17000) do notsupport secure printing and handle only non‐secure printing. You can install a mix ofsecure and non‐secure printers, but make sure to connect and install each secureprinter to the appropriate host PC during installation.
