GRYPHON™ D432/D432E4The field of view indicated by the aiming system will be smaller when theGryphon™ D432/D432E is closer to the code and larger when it is farther from thecode. Symbologies with smaller bars or elements (mil size) should be read closer tothe unit. Symbologies with larger bars or elements (mil size) should be read fartherfrom the unit. (See chapter 9 for further details).3.2 NORMAL OPERATIONGryphon™ D432/D432E normally functions by capturing and decoding codes.Point the reader at the target and pull the trigger to enable the aiming system and theilluminator (red beam) to capture and decode the image. The aiming system willbriefly switch off during the acquisition time and if no code is decoded will switch onagain before the next acquisition. The illuminator will remain on until the symbol isdecoded. As you are reading code symbols, adjust the distance at which you are holding thereader. The Aiming System Delay parameter can be used to set a delay between theactivation of the aiming system and the activation of the illuminator. This allows moretime to center the reader over the target before image acquisition.NOTEThe Gryphon™ D432/D432E hand-held reader aiming system isdesigned for general reading and decoding of 1D and 2D symbols. Some variation in reading distance will occur due to narrow bar widthand other factors.NOTEIf reading codes positioned on reflective surfaces, it may benecessary to tilt the reader with respect to the barcode and/or set theCamera Control parameters (see page 50).3.3 IMAGE CAPTURINGGryphon™ D432/D432E can also function as a camera by capturing images oflabels, signatures, and other items. In order to capture an image, the user should read a Capture Image code (seepage 73), then point at the image subject and pull the trigger. This way, the imagewill be captured and sent to the host PC. Gryphon™ D432/D432E then returns to
