Getting StartedQuick Reference Guide 11Linking the Reader to a Base StationLinking the Reader to a Bluetooth® Enabled DeviceA reader can optionally be linked to a PC with a Bluetooth radio installed.1. Ensure that the Bluetooth enabled device and its driver areinstalled on the PC.2. On the PC, open the control window for the Bluetooth device(usually called “My Bluetooth Places”). Security settings aresupported for the Bluetooth serial port.3. Scan the “Link to a PC” barcode below.4. On the PC, search for Bluetooth enabled devices that are inrange and select the “Datalogic PS7100 Reader.”5. Connect with the serial port for the Datalogic PS7100 reader.Note which serial port number is assigned to the reader.6. Open your serial port application and connect to the reader usingthe serial port that was assigned in the previous step.Battery Pack Charging and MaintenanceSeat the reader (with installed Battery Pack) in a powered Base Station as shown in Figure 1-3,ensuring the Battery Pack is fully seated and engages the station’s metal contacts. The reader willsound a short “chirp” when good contact is made and the green LED on the Base Station shouldflash, indicating the battery is charging. Alternatively, multiple Battery Packs can be charged exter-nal to the reader using an accessory charging unit available from your Datalogic dealer.NOTETo link the reader to its own Base Station, refer to the instruc-tions provided in the Base Station Quick Reference Guide(QRG).NOTEThe Amber LED will blink twice when a barcode is decodedwhen the battery is getting low.Link to a PC
