49Pro 2 Operation ManualSequencerSequencerFor many musicians, the term sequencer has become synonymous withMIDI sequencer—a software application for recording and playing backMIDI performance data. But sequencers were around long before MIDI.The original sequencers in modular synths were used as a modula-tion source. They produced a series of control voltage events at timedintervals that could be used to change the value of a synth parameterin discrete steps. Sequences could be routed to oscillator frequency toproduce a series of pitched notes, to filter frequency to produce steppedfiltering effects, and so on.The Pro 2’s sequencer is like an original analog sequencer but morepowerful. It provides either sixteen tracks of 16-step sequences, or eighttracks of 32-step sequences—depending on which mode you choose fora particular program.
