9Connecting the applianceImportant!Check that the mains power supply voltage corresponds tothe value indicated on the rating plate on the bottom of theappliance.Connect the appliance to an earthed and correctly installedsocket with a minimum current rating of 10A only.If the power socket does not match the plug on the appliance,have the socket replaced with a suitable type by a qualiiedprofessional.using the appliance for the irst timePlease note!• Cofee has been used to factory test the appliance and itis therefore completely normal for there to be traces ofcofee in the mill.The machine is, however, guaranteed to be new.• You should customise water hardness as soon as possiblefollowing the instructions in the section “Setting thewater hardness” on page 18.1. Insert the power cable connector into the socket at theback of the appliance and connect the appliance to themains electricity supply (ig. 1). Make sure the mainswitch at the back of the appliance is pressed (ig. 2).You must irst choose the language (the languages scrollthrough at intervals of about 3 seconds).2. When “English” appears, press and hold thebutton (ig. 3) for a few seconds until “English set” isdisplayed.Follow the instructions displayed by the appliance:3. “FILL TANK!”: remove the water tank (ig. 4), ill to theMAX line with fresh water then replace in the appliance.4. “INSERT WATER SPOUT!”: Check that the hot water spoutis inserted on the nozzle and place a container with aminimum capacity of 100 ml underneath (ig. 6).5. “Hot water... Press OK?” is displayed;6. Press the button to conirm (ig. 3).
