Press the button (B14) and hold it down for at least5 seconds to confirm that you have added the solutionand begin the descaling procedure. The descaler solution flows out of the cappuccinomaker into the underlying container.The descale programme automatically performs a series ofrinses and pauses to remove limescale deposits from insidethe machine.After about 30 minutes, the water tank is empty, the (B11)light comes on and the , and lights alter-nate. Turn the steam/hot water knob clockwise as far as it willgo to the 0 position.The appliance is now ready for rinsing through with clean water.11. Empty the container used to collect the descaler solutionand replace it empty under the cappuccino maker.12. Remove the water tank, empty, rinse under running water,fill with clean water and replace. The , andlights flash simultaneously.13. Turn the steam/hot water knob a half turn anticlockwise tothe l position. Hot water comes out of the spout.14. When the water tank is completely empty, the lightgoes out and the and , , lightsflash.15. SETTING WATER HARDNESSThe light (B15) comes on after a period of time estab-lished according to water hardness.The machine is set by default for a hardness value of 4 (very hardwater).The machine can also be programmed according to the hardnessof the mains water in the various regions so that the machineneeds to be descaled less often.15.1 Measuring water hardness1. Remove the “TOTAL HARDNESS TEST” indicator paper at-tached to this manual from its pack.2. Immerse the paper completely in a glass of water for onesecond.3. Remove the paper from the water and shake lightly. Afterabout a minute, 1, 2, 3, or 4 red squares form, dependingon the hardness of the water. Each square corresponds toone level.15.2 Set water hardness1. Make sure the appliance is off (but connected to the mainselectricity supply and with the main switch (in the I posi-tion) (A2-fig. 3);2. Press and hold the button (B14) for at least 6 sec-onds. The lights(B11, B12, B13 and B14) come on simultaneously;3.
