14and clean.• Empty the grounds container and clean tho-roughly to remove all residues left on thebottom.Important!When removing the drip tray, the grounds con-tainer must be emptied, even if it contains fewgrounds.If this is not done, when you make the next cof-fees, the grounds container may fill up more thanexpected and clog the machine.cleaning the drip trayImportant!If the drip tray is not emptied regularly, the watercould overflow from the edge and seep inside oraround the machine.This could damage the machine, the surface itrests on or the surrounding area.The drip tray is fitted with a level indicator (red)showing the level of water it contains (fig. 19).Before the indicator protrudes from the cup tray,the drip tray must be emptied and cleaned.To remove the drip tray:1. Remove the drip tray and the grounds con-tainer (fig. 18);2. Empty the drip tray and grounds containerand wash them;3. Replace the drip tray and grounds container.cleaning the inside of the machineDanger of electric shock!Before cleaning internal parts, the machine mustbe turned off (see “Turning off”) and unpluggedfrom the mains power supply.Never immerse the coffee maker in water.1. Check regularly (about once a month) thatthe inside of the appliance (accessible afterremoving the drip tray) is not dirty. If neces-sary, remove coffee deposits with a brushand a sponge.2. Remove the residues with a vacuum cleaner(fig. 20).cleaning the water tank1. Clean the water tank (A12) regularly (aboutonce a month and whenever you replace thewater softener filter, if provided) with a dampcloth and a little mild washing up liquid.2. Fill the tank with fresh water and put back inthe appliance.cleaning the coffee spouts1. Clean the coffee spouts with a sponge orcloth (fig. 21).2. Check the holes in the coffee spout are notblocked. If necessary, remove coffee depo-sits with a toothpick (fig. 22).cleaning the pre-ground coffee funnelCheck regularly (about once a month ) that thepre-ground coffee funnel (A8) is not blocked.If necessary, remove coffee deposits with abrush.cleaning the infuserThe infuser (A20) must be cleaned at least oncea month.Important!The infuser may not be extracted when the ma-chine is on.1. Make sure the machine is correctly turnedoff (see Turning off).2. Open the service door.3. Extract the drip tray and the grounds contai-ner (fig. 18).4. Press the two red release buttons inwardsand at the same time pull the infuser ou-twards (fig. 23).Important!RINSE WITH WATER ONLY NO WASHING UPLIQUID - NO DISH WASHERDo not use washing up liquid to clean the infuseras it could cause damage.5. Soak the infuser in water for about 5 minu-tes, then rinse under the tap.6. After cleaning, replace the infuser by slidingit onto the internal support and pin at thebottom, then push the PUSH symbol fully inuntil it clicks into place.
