Page 11PreparationTips for energy savingThe following information will help you tosave energy:• Defrost frozen dishes before cooking.• Select the burner which is suitable for thebottom size of the pot to be used. Alwaysselect the correct pot size for your dishes.Larger pots require more energy.• Pots with a thick base will provide a betterheat conduction. You can obtain energysavings up to 1/3.• Pots must be compatible with the cookingzones. Bottom of the pots must not besmaller than the hotplate.• Always cover the pot with a lid. This willconserve energy and minimize spillage.Initial useFirst cleaning of the appliance1. Remove all packaging materials.2. Wipe the surfaces of the appliance with adamp cloth or sponge and dry with acloth. The surface may get damagedby some detergents or cleaningmaterials. Do not useaggressive detergents, cleaningpowder/cream or any sharpobjects.4ASIDE VIEWWORKTOPSELF ADHESIVE SEALHOBCLIPBC• Position the hob into the aperture so thatthe securing clips are compressedbetween the hob base and the worktop.(see Sketch below).Since the following are not factory faults, they are the owner’s responsibility.• Damage to exterior finish.• Breakage of glass and other components.• Damage through improper use orinstallation of the appliance.• Damage caused by moving the appliance.• Use pots with a base diameter slightlylarger than that of the thermal area. Thiswill ensure even heat distribution andprevent spillage from dripping onto andstaining the hot zone.• Keep the cooking zones and bottom of thepots clean. Dirt will decrease the heatconduction between the cooking zone andbottom of the pot.• Use only pots with a solid level base. Anuneven base will prolong cooking time andwaste energy.• Save energy by switching the plate off 5 to10 minutes before the end of a lengthycooking period. The hob will retainsufficient residual heat to complete thecooking process.• A pot with rough edges could scratch theappliance surface if it were draggedacross the surface of the appliance.• Any spillage of sugar solution such as jam, must be removed immediately. If allowedto cool on the surface it could pit anddamage the surface.• Do not cover the appliance surface withaluminium foil and do not use poor qualityaluminium pots. These will leave unsightlydeposits which in time, could adhere to thesurface of the hob.• Only use clean pots with an even flat baseto prevent cracking on glass due to hotspots.
