YOUmust ensure that you and anyone else who is goingto operate, maintain, or work around the machinebe familiar with the operating and maintenanceprocedures, and related SAFETY informationcontained in this manual. This manual will take youstep-by-step through your working day and willalert you to good safety practices that should beadhered to while operating this equipment.Remember, YOU are the key to safety. Goodsafety practices not only protect you, but alsothe people around you. Make these practices aworking part of your safety program. Be certainthat EVERYONE operating this equipment is familiarwith the recommended operating and maintenanceprocedures and follows all the safety precautions.Most accidents can be prevented. Do not risk injuryor death by ignoring good safety practices.• Owners must give operating instructions tooperators or employees before allowing them tooperate the unit, and at least annually thereafterper OSHA regulation 1928.57.• The most important safety device on thisequipment is a SAFE operator. It is the operator’sresponsibility to read and understand ALL Safetyand Operating instructions in the manual and tofollow these. All accidents can be avoided!• A person who has not read and understood ALLoperating and safety instructions is not qualifiedto operate the machine. An untrained operatorexposes himself and bystanders to possibleserious injury or death.• Do not modify the equipment in any way.Unauthorized modifica tion may impair thefunction and/or safety and could affect the life ofthe equipment.DANGER: Indicates an imminently hazardous situationthat, if not avoided, WILL result in death or serious injuryif proper precautions are not taken.WARNING: Indicates a potentially hazardous situationthat, if not avoided, COULD result in death or seriousinjury if proper precautions are not taken.CAUTION: Indicates a potentially hazardous situationthat, if not avoided, MAY result in minor or moderateinjury if proper practices are not taken, or, serves as areminder to follow appropriate safety practices.Note the use of the Signal Words: DANGER, WARNING,and CAUTION with the safety messages. The appropriateSignal Word has been selected using the followingguidelines:SIGNAL WORDSThe Safety Alert Symbol identifies important safetymessages applied to the dozer blade and in thismanual.
