Turn off your computer and all peripherals.2. Disconnect your computer and peripheralsfrom their power sources to reduce the poten-tial for personal injury or shock. Also,disconnect any telephone or telecommunica-tion lines from the computer.3. If you are disconnecting a peripheral from thecomputer or are removing a component fromthe system board, wait 5 seconds after turningoff the computer before disconnecting theperipheral or removing the component toavoid possible damage to the system board.4. Touch an unpainted metal surface on thecomputer chassis, such as the power supply,before touching anything inside your computer.While you work, periodically touch an unpaintedmetal surface on the computer chassis to dissipateany static electricity that might harm internalcomponents.
