51Restoring Your Operating SystemDell Factory Image RestoreCAUTION: Using Dell Factory ImageRestore to restore your operating systemwill permanently delete all data on thehard drive and removes any programs ordrivers installed after you received yourcomputer. If possible, back up the databefore using this option. Use Dell FactoryImage Restore only if System Restore didnot resolve your operating system problem.NOTE: Dell Factory Image Restore maynot be available in certain countries or oncertain computers.NOTE: If Dell Factory Image Restore isnot available on your computer, use DellDataSafe Local Backup (see “Dell DataSafeLocal Backup” on page 47) to restore youroperating system.Use Dell Factory Image Restore only as thelast method to restore your operating system.This option restores your hard drive to theoperating state it was in when you purchasedthe computer. Any programs or files addedsince you received your computer—includingdata files—are permanently deleted fromthe hard drive. Data files include documents,spreadsheets, e-mail messages, digital photos,music files, and so on. If possible, back up alldata before using Dell Factory Image Restore.
