Replacing the Processor Heat-Sink | 8334 Replacing the Processor Heat-SinkWARNING: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information thatshipped with your computer and follow the steps in "Before You Begin" on page 9.For additional safety best practices information, see the Regulatory ComplianceHomepage at dell.com/regulatory_compliance.ProcedureNOTE: The original thermal grease can be reused, if the original system board andheat sink are reinstalled together. If either the system board or the heat sink isreplaced, use the thermal pad provided in the kit to ensure thatthermal conductivity is achieved.1 Clean the thermal grease from the bottom of the processor heat-sink andreapply it.2 Align the screw holes on the processor heat-sink with the screw holes on thesystem board.3 In sequential order (indicated on the heat sink), tighten the captive screws thatsecure the processor heat-sink to the system board.Postrequisites1 Follow the instructions from step 4 to step 7 in "Replacing the System Board" onpage 79.2 Replace the fan.
