63Restoring Your Operating SystemNOTE: Dell DataSafe Local Backup maynot be available in all regions.NOTE: If Dell DataSafe Local Backupis not available on your computer, useDell Factory Image Restore (see “DellFactory Image Restore” on page 66)to restore your operating system.You can use Dell DataSafe Local Backup torestore your hard drive to the operating stateit was in when you purchased your computer,while preserving the data files.Dell DataSafe Local Backup allows you to:• Backup and restore your computer to anearlier operating state• Create system recovery mediaDell DataSafe Local Backup BasicTo restore the Dell factory-installed softwarewhile preserving the data files:1. Turn off your computer.2. Disconnect all the devices (USB drive,printer, and so on) connected to thecomputer and remove any newly addedinternal hardware.NOTE: Do not disconnect the ACadapter.3. Turn on your computer.4. When the DELL logo appears, press several times to access the Advanced BootOptions window.NOTE: If you wait too long and theoperating system logo appears, continueto wait until you see the MicrosoftWindows desktop; then, shut down yourcomputer and try again.5. Select Repair Your Computer.
