On the bottom ofyour computer is a label that contains, among other information, the FCCregistration number and ringer equivalence number (REN) for yourequipment. If requested, you must provide this information to thetelephone company.The REN is used to determine the quantity of devices that may beconnected to the telephone line. Excessive RENs on the telephone line mayresult in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In mostareas, the sum of all the RENs on your telephone line should be less thanfive to ensure proper service from the telephone company. To be certain ofthe number of devices that you may connect to a line, as determined by thetotal RENs, contact your local telephone company.The registration jack Universal Service Order Code (USOC) used by thisequipment is RJ-11C. An FCC compliant telephone cord and modular plugis provided with this equipment. This equipment is designed to beconnected to the telephone network or premises wiring using a compatiblemodular jack that is Part 68 compliant.This equipment cannot be used on public coin-phone service provided bythe telephone company. Connection to party line service is subject to statetariffs.There are no user serviceable parts on the modem contained in yourcomputer.If your telephone equipment causes harm to the telephone network, thetelephone company will notify you in advance that service may betemporarily discontinued.
