Power Supply Diagnostic LightThe power supply diagnostic light located on the back of the computer, near the power connector. The light remains solid or off to indicate different states:l No light — Indicates no power available for the power supply or the power supply is not working.l Green light — Indicates power availability for the power supply.SteadyGreenl If available, install working memory of the same type into your computer (see Memory).l If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).SteadyGreenA possible graphics card failure hasoccurred.l Reseat any installed graphics cards (see the "Cards" section for your computer).l If available, install a working graphics card into your computer.l If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).SteadyGreenA possible floppy drive or hard drivefailure has occurred.Reseat all power and data cables.SteadyGreenA possible USB failure has occurred. Reinstall all USB devices and check all cable connections.SteadyGreenNo memory modules are detected. l If two or more memory modules are installed, remove the modules (see Removing MemoryModule (s)), then reinstall one module (see Installing Memory Module (s)) and restart thecomputer.If the computer starts normally, continue to install additional memory modules (one at atime) until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.l If available, install working memory of the same type into your computer (see Memory).l If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).SteadyGreenMemory modules are detected, but amemory configuration or compatibilityerror has occurred.l Ensure that no special requirements for memory module/connector placement exist.l Ensure that the memory you are using is supported by your computer (see the Setup andQuick Reference Guide that ships with your computer).l If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).SteadyGreenA possible expansion card failure hasoccurred.l Determine if a conflict exists by removing an expansion card (not a graphics card) andrestarting the computer (see the "Cards" section for your computer).l If the problem persists, reinstall the card you removed, then remove a different card andrestart the computer.l Repeat this process for each expansion card installed. If the computer starts normally,troubleshoot the last card removed from the computer for resource conflicts.l If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).SteadyGreenAnother failure has occurred. l Ensure that all hard drive and optical drive cables are properly connected to the systemboard (see the "System Board Components" section for your computer).l If there is an error message on the screen identifying a problem with a device (such as thefloppy drive or hard drive), check the device to make sure it is functioning properly.l If the operating system is attempting to boot from a device (such as the floppy drive oroptical drive), check system setup to ensure the boot sequence is correct for the devicesinstalled on your computer.l If the problem persists, contact Dell (see Contacting Dell).Blinking GreenThe computer is in standby mode. Press a key on the keyboard, move the mouse, or press the power button to resume normaloperation.
