The protocol broadcasts routing information to determine the quickest route tothe next destination. RIP is a distance vector routing protocol that is best used in small networks.Routes are determined through the smallest hop count. Routing updates contain pairs of valuesconsisting of an IP address and the distance to the node.RIP version 2 does the following:• Supports subnet masks.• Provides authentication methods.• Supports routing protocols.• Provides larger distribution and smaller bandwidth overhead requirements.You configure RIP on the RIP page.
