A mixed Virtual Chassissupports up to two J-EX4500 switches and up to eight J-EX4200 switches. The Virtual Chassis configuration requires designating one of the members as the masterswitch, and another as the backup switch. All other switches in the configuration aredesignated as being in the line card role. You manage Virtual Chassis operation throughthe master switch. Each switch in the Virtual Chassis is assigned a unique identifier thatis displayed on the switch LCD panel. In a mixed Virtual Chassis, a J-EX4500 switch must be configured in the master andbackup roles. For configuration details, see the Dell PowerConnect J-Series Ethernet SwitchComplete Software Guide for Junos OS at http://www.support.dell.com/manuals.NOTE: You can configure and manage a standalone J-EX4500 switch withthe J-Web interface, but the J-Web interface does not support configurationand management of a J-EX4500 Virtual Chassis.RelatedDocumentationFor more information about the J-EX4200 and J-EX4500 Virtual Chassis andcomponents, see the Dell PowerConnect J-Series Ethernet Switch Complete SoftwareGuide for Junos OS at http://www.support.dell.com/manuals.•• Planning J-EX4200 and J-EX4500 Virtual Chassis on page 70• Virtual Chassis Ports Connector Pinout Information for J-EX4500 Switches on page 3669
