Before performing anyprocedure, see your Product Information Guide for complete information aboutsafety precautions, working inside the computer and protecting againstelectrostatic discharge.1 Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the systemfrom the electrical outlet.2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 47.3 Depending on your system configuration, disconnect the following powercables:• P1 and P2 to the system board• P3 and P5 to the SATA or SAS drives• P7 to the diskette drive• P8, P9, and P10 to the optical and tape drivesNOTE: Note the routing of the DC power cables underneath the tabs in thesystem frame as you release the tabs and remove the cables from the systemboard and drives. You must route these cables properly when you replacethem to prevent their being pinched or crimped.4 Remove the heat sink and shroud assembly. Loosen the two captive screwsholding the heat sink and shroud assembly in place.These captive screws are adjacent to the processor cooling fan housing. SeeFigure 3-21.5 Tilt the heat sink and shroud assembly away from the fan housing and liftit out.6 Remove the I/O panel and SATA cables (if present) attached to therouting clips on the side of the power supply.
