Installing System Components 99Power SupplyRemoving the Power SupplyCAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. Youshould only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in yourproduct documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service andsupport team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not coveredby your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with theproduct.1 Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the systemfrom the electrical outlet.2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 59.3 Remove the expansion-card stabilizer. See "Removing the Expansion-CardStabilizer" on page 78.4 Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" onpage 79.5 Disconnect all the power cables from the system board and drives.NOTE: Note the routing of the DC power cables underneath the tabs in thesystem frame as you release the tabs and remove the cables from the systemboard and drives. You must route these cables properly when you replacethem to prevent their being pinched or crimped.6 Remove the cables secured to the cable clip on the side of the powersupply.7 Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws that secure thepower supply to the back panel.8 Press the power-supply release tab down and slide the power supply towardthe front of the system.9 Lift the power-supply out of the chassis. See Figure 3-22.10 Remove the cable clip and set it aside to attach to the new power supply.
