Installing A Non-Redundant AC Power SupplyCAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by yourwarranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.1. Unpack the new power supply.2. Open the system.3. Slide the new power supply into the power supply unit cage until the power supply is fully seated.4. Tighten the screw to secure the power supply to the chassis.5. Connect all the power cables to the system board, hard-drive backplane, hard drives, and optical drives, asapplicable.6. Close the system.7. If applicable, place the system upright on a flat, stable surface and rotate the system feet outward.8. Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.Power Distribution Board And Power Interposer BoardThe power distribution board and the power interposer board are only supported in systems with redundant powersupplies.NOTE: The power distribution board is installed on the power interposer board and then installed into the system.Removing The Power Interposer BoardCAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet andperipherals.CAUTION: To prevent damage to the power interposer board, you must remove the power supply module(s) orpower supply blank from the system before removing the power interposer board or power distribution board.2. Remove the power supply module(s) or power supply blank from the back of the chassis.3. If applicable, rotate the system feet inward and lay the system on its side on a flat, stable surface.NOTE: For systems installed with the wheel assembly, ensure that you lay the system on a sturdy, stablesurface with the wheel assembly extending off the edge of the surface.4. Open the system.5. Disconnect the power cables from the hard-drive backplane and the system board.NOTE: If applicable, remove the expansion card to enable removing the P3 power cable from the systemboard.6. Remove the four screws securing the power distribution board to the chassis.7. Press the release latch on the power interposer board to release the power interposer board from the hooks on thepower supply unit cage.8. Lift the power interposer board along with the power distribution board up and out of the chassis.106
