34ENGLISH22 TROUBLESHOOTINGCheck again before assuming the player is malfunctioning2 Are all the connections correct ?2 Are you following the instructions in the manual ?2 Are the amplifier and speakers operating properly ?If the DVD-2900 does not seem to be functioning properly, check the table below. If this does not solve theproblem, the DVD-2900 may be damaged. Turn off the power, unplug the power supply cord from the poweroutlet, and contact your store of purchase or nearest DENON sales office.SymptomPower does not turn on.Playback does not startwhen PLAY button ispressed.Playback stops immediately.Picture does not appear.Sound is not produced orsound quality is poor.Menu playback of videoCD’s is not possible.Picture is disturbed duringthe search operation.Buttons do not operate.No subtitles are displayed.Audio (or subtitle) languagedoes not switch.Angle does not switch.Playback does not startwhen the title is selected.The password for ratinglevel has been forgotten.Reset all the setting toFactory Preset.The disc is not played withthe audio or subtitlelanguage set as the defaultsetting.Picture is not displayed in4:3 (or 16:9).Menu screen messages forthe desired language do notdisplay.Remote control unit doesnot operate.Check Page• Plug the power supply cord securely into the power outlet.• Is there condensation on the disc or player ? (Let stand for 1 or 2 hours.)• Discs other than DVDs, video CDs and music CDs cannot be played.• Disc is dirty. Wipe off the dirt.• Check the connections.• Check that VIDEO OUT has not been set to OFF for PURE DIRECT MODE.• Set the TV’s input to “video”.• Check the connections.• Properly set the input of the TV, stereo, etc.• Check the “DIGITAL OUT” and “COMPRESSION” settings.• Digital signals cannot be output with Super audio CDs. Use analog connections.• Area/layer of Super audio CD being played (CD/stereo/multi-channel) does not matchamplifier connections.• Menu playback is not possible with anything but video CDs with playback control.• Some disturbance is normal.• Some operations are disabled for some discs.• Subtitles are not displayed for DVDs not containing subtitles.• Subtitles are turned off. Turn the subtitles setting on.• The audio (or subtitle) language does not switch for discs which do not includemultiple audio (or subtitle) languages.• For some discs the audio (or subtitle) language cannot be switched when theoperation to switch it is performed, but can be switched on the menu screens.• The angle cannot be switched for DVDs which do not contain multiple angles. Insome cases multiple angles are only recorded for specific scenes.• Check the “RATINGS” setting.• While the player is in the stop mode, hold the player's SKIP 9 button and thePLAY button down simultaneously and then hold the OPEN/CLOSE button down forlonger than 3 seconds (until “INITIALIZE” disappears from the TV monitor).The lock will be released and all default settings and picture settings will return tothe default values.• The disc does not play with the selected audio or subtitle language if that audio orsubtitle language is not included on that DVD.• Set the “TV ASPECT” default setting to the proper setting for the connected TV.• Check the default setting for the disc language’s menu language.• Check that the batteries are inserted in the proper “<” and “>” directions.• The batteries are dead.
