Blow air into the primary air holes on theinjector holder.6. In case any large clumps of dust have now beenpushed into burner repeat steps 3 and 4.Clean pilot assembly also. A yellow tip onpilot flame indicates dust and dirt in the pilotassembly. There is a small pilot air inlet holeabout 2" from where the pilot flame comes outof the pilot assembly (see Figure 38). With theunit off, lightly blow air through the air inlethole. You may blow through a drinking strawif compressed air is not available.BurnerTubePilot AssemblyPilot AirInlet HolePorts/SlotsBurnerTubeInjectorHolderPrimary AirInlet HolesFigure 37 - Injector Holder On OutletBurner TubeFigure 38 - Pilot Inlet Air HoleLOGS• If you remove logs for cleaning, refer toInstalling Logs, page 18, to properly replacelogs.• Replace log(s) if broken or chipped (dime-sized or larger).MAIN BURNERPeriodically inspect all burner flame holeswith heater running. All slotted burner flameholes should be open with yellow flame pres-ent. All round burner flame holes should beopen with a small blue flame present. Someburner flame holes may become blocked bydebris or rust, with no flame present. If so,turn off heater and let cool. Remove blockage.Blocked burner flame holes will create soot.WARNING: Turn off heaterand let cool before cleaning.CAUTION: you must keepcontrol areas, burners andcirculating air passagewaysof heater clean. Inspect theseareas of heater before each use.Have heater inspected yearlyby a qualified service person.Heater may need more frequentcleaning due to excessive lintfrom carpeting, pet hair, beddingmaterial, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.BURNER INjECTOR HOLDER ANDPILOT AIR INLET HOLEThe primary air inlet holes allow the properamount of air to mix with the gas. This providesa clean burning flame. Keep these holes clearof dust, dirt, lint and pet hair. Clean these air in-let holes prior to each heating season. Blockedair holes will create soot. We recommend thatyou clean the unit every three months duringoperation and have heater inspected yearly bya qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertube and pilot assembly clean and free of dust anddirt. To clean these parts we recommend usingcompressed air no greater than 30 PSI. Your localcomputer store, hardware store or home centermay carry compressed air in a can. If using com-pressed air in a can, please follow the directionson the can. If you don’t follow directions on thecan, you could damage the pilot assembly.1. Shut off unit, including pilot. Allow unit tocool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burner, pilot and primary air inletholes on injector holder for dust and dirt(see Figure 37).3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holesin the burner.4. Check injector holder located at end ofburner tube again. Remove any large
