Have heaterinspected yearly by a qualifiedservice person. Heater may needmore frequent cleaning due toexcessive lint from carpeting, pethair, bedding material, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.BURNER INJECTOR HOLDERS ANDPILOT AIR INLET HOLESThe primary air inlet holes allow the proper amountof air to mix with the gas. This provides a cleanburning flame. Keep these holes clear of dust, dirt, lint, and pet hair. Clean these air inlet holes prior toeach heating season. Blocked air holes will createsoot. We recommend that you clean the unit everythree months during operation and have heaterinspected yearly by a qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertubes and pilot assembly clean and free of dustand dirt. To clean these parts we recommend usingcompressed air no greater than 30 PSI. Your localcomputer store, hardware store, or home centermay carry compressed air in a can. You can use avacuum cleaner in the blow position. If using com-pressed air in a can, please follow the directions onthe can. If you don't follow directions on the can,you could damage the pilot assembly.1. Shut off the unit, including the pilot. Allowthe unit to cool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burners, pilot, and primary air inletholes on injector holder for dust and dirt (seeFigures 28 or 29).3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holes inthe burners.4. Check the injector holders located at the endof the burner tubes again. Blow air into the primary air holes on theinjector holders.6. In case any large clumps of dust have now beenpushed into the burner repeat steps 3 and 4.Clean the pilot assembly also. A yellow tip on the pilotflame indicates dust and dirt in the pilot assembly. There is a small pilot air inlet hole about two inchesfrom where the pilot flame comes out of the pilotassembly (see Figure 30). With the unit off, lightlyblow air through the air inlet hole. The access hole forpropane/LP pilot is on the front of the burner carriangeas shown in Figure 30. The access hole for naturalpilot is behind the pilot bracket on the top of burnercarriage (see Figure 30). You may blow through adrinking straw if compressed air is not available.
