The data platescontain important warranty andsafety information.WARNING: You must securethis heater to fireplace floor. Ifnot, heater will move when youadjust controls. Moving heatermay cause a gas leak.WARNING: If installing in asunken fireplace, special careis needed. You must raise thefireplace floor to allow access toheater control panel. This will in-sure adequate air flow and guardagainst sooting and controls be-ing damaged. Raise fireplace floorwith noncombustible material.Make sure material is secure.CAUTION: Do not pick upheater base assembly by theburner. This could damageheater. Only handle base as-sembly by grates.IMPORTANT: Make sure the heater burneris level. If heater is not level, heater will notwork properly.Installation Items Needed• hardware package (provided with heater)• approved flexible gas hose (not provided)(if allowed by local codes)• sealant (resistant to propane/LP gas, notprovided)• electric drill with 3/16" drill bit (metal ormasonry as applicable)• flathead screwdriver1. Apply pipe joint sealant lightly to malethreads of the fitting to be threaded intogas control. Connect approved flexibleINSTALLATIONContinuedgas hose to gas control fitting in heater(see Figure 11). IMPORTANT: Hold gasfitting with wrench when connecting flex-ible gas hose.2. Locate two masonry screws in hardwarepackage.3. Place heater base in fireplace.4. Place logs in their proper position on heaterbase. See Installing Logs, page 16.5. Center heater base and logs front to backand side to side in fireplace.6. Carefully remove logs without movingheater base.7. Mark screw locations through one holeon each side of mounting bracket (seeFigure 12). If installing in a brick bottomfireplace, mark screw locations in mortarjoint of bricks.8. Remove heater base from fireplace. Ifinstalling optional control accessories,do so at this time. Follow all directionsprovided with accessory.9. Drill holes at marked locations using 3/16"drill bit.10.
