Heatermay need more frequent cleaning due to excessive lintfrom carpeting, bedding material, etc.CLEANINGANDMAINTENANCECABINETAir Passageways• Use a vacuum cleaner or pressurized air to clean.Exterior• Use a soft cloth dampened with a mild soap and water mixture. Wipe thecabinet to remove dust.COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND BURNERClean the combustion chamber and burner if you have run the heater with a highyellow flame. Incomplete combustion from lack of air causes the yellow flame.This will deposit soot inside the combustion chamber and on the burner. To cleancombustion chamber and burner, you must remove the burner from heater. SeeService Procedures, page 31, to remove burner. After removing burner, blow insideof combustion chamber clean with compressed air. Clean burner with a soft-bristledbrush. Blow soot from burner with compressed air.PILOTUse a vacuum cleaner, compressed air, or small, soft-bristled brush to clean.BURNER ORIFICEUse a vacuum cleaner, compressed air, or small, soft-bristled brush to clean. Youcan also use a tooth pick to clean orifice. Do not enlarge or damage orifice hole.PILOT AND BURNER FLAMECheck the pilot and burner flame monthly. Make sure pilot and burner flame isburning correctly. See Inspecting Pilot and Burner Flame, page 23.VENTING SYSTEMCheck the venting system at least once a year. Make sure joints are secure and ventpipe is in good condition. Do not obstruct combustion and ventilation air enteringthe rear of heater.
