Inspect these areas ofheater before each use. Haveheater inspected yearly by aqualified service person. Heatermay need more frequent clean-ing due to excessive lint fromcarpeting, bedding material, pethair, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.ODS/PILOT AND BURNERUse a vacuum cleaner, pressurized air orsmall, soft bristled brush to clean.BURNER PILOT AIR INLETThe primary air inlet holes allow the properamount of air to mix with the gas. This pro-vides a clean burning flame. Keep these holesclear of dust, dirt and lint. Clean these air inletholes prior to each heating season. Blockedair holes will create soot. We recommend thatyou clean the unit every three months duringoperation and have heater inspected yearlyby a qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertube and pilot assembly clean and free of dustand dirt. To clean these parts we recommendusing compressed air no greater than 30 PSI.Your local computer store, hardware store orhome center may carry compressed air in acan. If using compressed air in a can, pleasefollow the directions on the can. If you don'tfollow directions on the can, you could dam-age the pilot assembly.1. Shut off the unit, including the pilot. Allowthe unit to cool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burner, pilot for dust and dirt.3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holesin the burner.4. Never insert objects into the pilot tube.Figure 24 - Pilot Air Inlet HolePilot AssemblyPilot Air InletCABINETAir PassagewaysUse pressurized air to clean.ExteriorUse a soft cloth dampened with a mild soapand water mixture.
